Lively concert raises roof - and funds for RSD
Exeter’s Italian folk band Trikkeballakke combined with visiting percussion wizard Luca Rossi for a stunning show at the Phoenix on Wednesday Nov 23, with proceeds donated to Refugee Support Devon.
Valentina Todino, our very own Drop-In Coordinator, opened with a heart-wrenching unaccompanied ballad before she and her accompanying musicians and dancer ripped into a roof-raising selection of southern Italian folksongs. Their first set ended with their own moving dance composition dedicated to Palestinians.

Luca Rossi appeared on stage with a couple of modest-looking tambourines and a simple hand-drum. But his performance was simply astonishing, coaxing amazing sounds from tiny movements of his hands across the frames.
And in a delightful boost for the local musicians, the Naples-based percussionist and singer invited them all back on stage for a rousing finale which had almost everyone in the audience singing and dancing.

RSD volunteers were on hand in the foyer with a stall displaying a sizeable amount of published material, with keen interest from audience members enjoying a memorable evening.
