A message to supporters from our new CEO

Dear Refugee Support Devon supporter,
Happy to e-meet you. My name is Susanna Revolti and I am proud to share I am the new and first Chief Executive Officer at the beautiful Refugee Support Devon.
A little bit about me: I am originally from the Italian Alps and I moved to Devon in 2014. My background is in peace and conflict studies and I have been working with NGOs supporting and advocating for migrants and refugees’ rights for more than 15 years, both in conflict and post conflict areas, as well as in European countries.
I joined Refugee Support Devon at the end of August and have since spent my working days meeting with my new colleagues, listening to clients and volunteers and learning from partners and allies. Having spent these first weeks observing how staff and volunteers, including trustees, work and reflect, I am admiring their wealth of knowledge, compassion and ways of working. I feel privileged and excited to be part of this chapter at Refugee Support Devon and the wider local movement continuing to build a county of sanctuary and welcome.
You will agree with me in saying that I have joined in a fairly turbulent political period; a time where people seeking safety and who are settling in our county (and country) are sadly at the centre of a dehumanising and hateful narrative, which is a product of the hostile environment, fuelled by hatred and false myths around asylum seekers, refugees and migrants.
There are many exciting things in the pipeline for the organisation, including a review of the drop-in and immigration clinic, strengthening our team and expanding our work with local and regional allies.
Finally but no less important, thank you, dear supporter, for your continuous support towards our important work and for standing alongside us! It really means a lot. Thank you.
See you soon.
Yours sincerely,
Susanna Revolti
CEO, Refugee Support Devon
