51 Mothers Days Gifts Donated to Asylum Seekers in Devon
We were excited to receive 51 Mother’s Day gift bags, earlier this month, full of donations from the wonderful team at Park Life Heavitree. These were distributed by our team supporting residents - refugees and asylum seekers - currently living in a hotel in Devon.
The gifts bags included toiletries and treats - a little gesture of community and appreciation for mothers to show they are seen, valued, and celebrated. The kindness and compassion that went into these gifts has not gone amiss and we are hugely grateful to everyone who spared a thought for our clients on Mother’s Day, many of whom are mothers with young children who have recently arrived in the UK.
Our work supports refugees, forced migrants and people seeking safety in Devon. From supporting them with advice in navigating their move here to just making their life in Devon a little easier, showing them support and community in a new country – and donations like these really help to make this possible.
A big thank you to Park Life’s Berni who went above and beyond to organise this.
We are always happy to receive donations from communities in Devon looking to show their support and solidarity with refugees and people seeking asylum. On days like mother’s day, it is much harder when you’re in a different country and navigating the asylum system.
Park Life shared a message to their supporters of this initiative online: To everyone who contributed - whether it was toiletries, treats, or time - please know your kindness was truly appreciated. The bags were received with such warmth and gratitude, and it meant so much to be able to share a moment of care and connection.
