Arabic/Kurdish Speakers. We are currently looking for Arabic Speakers to help with welcoming Syrian families resettled in Devon through the Syrian Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme. Volunteers are not expected to be professional translators/interpreters. The work will involve general orientations in towns around Devon, answering the family’s questions, helping them to understand British way of life and systems and helping to attend appointments and use public transport. For this post it would be useful to be available in appointments hours one or two times a week. Please contact us here if you are interested.

Local Volunteers (Non – Arabic). If you do not speak Arabic, but have great local knowledge and could welcome and help a family to settle into smaller towns around Devon. Being able to speak Arabic is not essential when helping people get around, to appointments and with general orientation. The additional English support is also helpful with integration. if this role sounds like you then please contact us here.

We are experiencing a very high demand of enquiries at the moment with offers of help and are currently unable to recruit any other volunteers.
